MOBILE SHOWERS OF HOPE

Street Angels recognizes the need for barrier free access to personal hygiene and health. People deserve to be cared for and clean. We strive to create barrier free access to basic human needs.

In partnership with the Kohler Company, Street Angels is excited to bring a 3-stall, ADA compliant mobile shower trailer to the streets of Milwaukee in May 2024.

Overall, by addressing a fundamental need for hygiene and well-being, the Showers of Hope program will compliment existing services and contribute to the overall welfare of the community. Access to regular showers not only promotes better health outcomes and reduces the risks of communicable diseases, it also promotes self-confidence and often gives people a needed boost to access services, employment, social networks, and programs.

HEALTH

Lack of access to sanitation and hygiene: Individuals experiencing shelter instability often do not have access to showers leading to poor hygiene and exasperated injuries and illneess. Street Angels will be able to bring the shower to the people, eliminating barriers and increasing overall health outcomes.

SHOWER OPERATIONS

The mobile shower trailer will be in operation 2 days per week for 4 hours a day. The mobile shower trailer will be geographically located in areas of the city that are experiencing the highest levels of poverty and homelessness. The target population is not only for those experiencing unsheltered homelessness, but also for anyone who many not be able to pay utility bills, do not have a functional shower facility, and for individuals with disabilities who may not have an ADA accessible shower in their home.

PARTNERS IN HUMANITY WELCOME!

The Showers of Hope program will allow Street Angels to provide space to a variety of agencies, organizations, and groups creating barrier free access to an array of resources from basic needs to longer-term programs that can assist with shelter access, treatment, and housing program access. The goal will be to have a minimum of three partnering providers at each shower event.
