We see you. We love you.
We sat with a woman in a bus shelter who with every bite of her dinner, let out sobs of despair. Tears streaming down her cheeks. "I'm too young to die. I don't want to die."
We listened to a woman tell us how far down on the list she was for assistance. "All these people were here first and will get help before me. I don't want to be alone."
We tried to convince another that no one was out to get her or inject her with needles while she slept on the pavement in the median of a busy road. "There's four of them. They keep coming here and hurting me. It's too cold out here. I don't want to be out here anymore."
These are just a few of the short conversations we had on the streets tonight. We offer what we can. A warm meal made with love, a lunch packed with hope and a hug to let them feel..visible. We see you and we LOVE you.
Thank you to the Greenley family for making our friends hot meal and also to the employees of UMB Fund Services for spending your lunch hour packing 120 lunches for our friends. We made connections with over 120 individuals tonight.
